Mary's eaten lots of treats on show
The cook, who judges the show with fellow baker Paul Hollywood, is off sweet treats because she’s eaten so many of them on the series.
I’m afraid to admit that since Bake Off I have got heartily sick of eating cake,’ says Mary, 78.
Nowadays, I rarely have it at home. If I do, I always prefer something plain, without a fancy filling or buttercream icing.’
Even though she does lots of tasting on the programme, Mary still manages to stay in shape by sticking to small portions.
I do get asked a great deal how I manage to stay slim while eating so much cake, and it’s really just by being very, very careful,’ Mary writes in her autobiography Recipe For Life.
Having been much bigger when I was younger, it is important to me that I don’t gain weight.
Rather than deny myself anything, I prefer to have tiny portions of beautiful food: a sliver of quiche with crispy bacon, for example, and a nice bit of asparagus.’
