Comedian Jason Manford admits online fan exchanges 'went too far'

Jason Manford has resigned from The One Show after admitting to flirting with girls online.

The comedian – who married long-term partner Catherine last year – will leave the BBC programme with immediate effect.

‘I have decided after careful consideration to step down from The One Show to concentrate on my family and tour commitments,’ reads a statement.

Jason‘s announcement comes after he admitted to having had ‘saucy’ exchanges with female fans on Twitter and video-calling site Skype

‘There were ten or 12 people flirting and then with a few it went over the line,’ he tells The Sun.

‘We would start off flirty, then innuendo and then a bit saucy…

‘I went on Skype with a few girls. They also sent pictures on Twitter. It all happened on tour. It was a few weeks back and I was in a hotel and a couple of them went too far.’

Catherine – who is currently pregnant – has decided to forgive Jason, 29.

They have 1-year-old twin daughters and are expecting their third child next month.

‘We have got nothing to say except that we accept Jason‘s decision,’ adds the BBC in a statement.
