Actor quits before wife sees him in prison clothes

Nigel Havers says he quit I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! 2010 because he didn’t want to look an idiot.

The actor’s wife, Georgiana Bronfman, never wanted him to sign up for the show in the first place and he knew she’d hate seeing him in the Kangeroo Court challenge, set in a makeshift courtroom.

‘The final straw was if my wife had seen him in those prison clothes,’ says Nigel, 59. ‘I wouldn’t have my life worth living.

‘I would have worried myself sick in here because of it.’

Nigel left the jungle after just 10 days. He was game about having maggots in his hair but put his foot down about the criminal’s costume – and the prospect of being tortured.

In the Kangeroo Court task, the contestants were told to bang a gravel every time they saw a baby joey shoot out of a toy kangaroo – with the slowest given electric shocks.

‘I’m not up for it, I don’t do electric shocks so I’m leaving. I cannot waste another second of my life,’ Nigel declared.

‘If you are gaining something, that’s a fantastic thing. But if you’re not gaining something…’

He is now relaxing at the luxurious Versace Hotel.
