Gary joins the cast for fourth series

Downton Abbey fans missing Matthew Crawley might not be sad for long…

After Dan Stevens‘ character died in a car accident in last year’s Christmas special, a new face – and body – looks set to raise spirits in series 4.

Gary Carr joins the cast as American jazz singer Jack Ross and it seems he’ll definitely be easy on the eye as well as the ears.

The actor, who’s starred in TV dramas Death In Paradise and Silent Witness, stripped off in 2009 theatre show Nation, giving lucky audience members a full-blown view of his toned chest.

Even if he doesn’t flaunt his bod in Downton, Jack Ross – the first black character in the show – looks set to make a big impression.

Gary, 26, has been spotted filming scenes in a rowing boat with Lily James, who plays rebellious Lady Rose MacClare, hinting at a possible romance between the two.

The actor recently Tweeted that he’d had a blast making the show.

Last day on @DowntonAbbey!Gary told his Twitter followers last week.

Was amazing! Fans, great stuff coming up in S4!
