Pete sets his sights high

Peter Andre is vying for a presenting job on The X Factor.

The dad-of-two would love to take over from current host Dermot O’Leary but doesn’t really rate his chances.

‘I’d love to do Dermot O’Leary‘s job but he’s so damn good at it,’ says Pete, 40, who has a new baby daughter with girlfriend Emily MacDonagh.

‘I’m not really one to be a judge on that show, I’d be better at presenting it.

‘But then there’s Stephen Mulhern who is climbing the ranks, so I’ll have to climb that ladder too and see who gets there first!’

If he’s beaten to the post Pete‘s also keen on nabbing a role in Downton Abbey, though he’s not sure how he’d fit in as an Australian.

‘I am obsessed with Downton Abbey – I’m waiting for someone to invite us on to the set,’ the singer tells TV Magazine.

‘Would an Australian in the 1920s work? I could be an Aussie diplomat.’
