EastEnders viewers will see two suspects grilled tonight as the investigation hots up

It might have been five months since EastEnders viewers learned who actually killed Lucy Beale but for the residents of Albert Square the mystery continues.

Fans were shocked to see Ben Mitchell and then Max Branning arrested in connection with the murder last week and tonight things will REALLY hot up when the two face some pretty gruelling questioning…

As our spoiler pictures show, Max (Jake Wood) faces an intense interrogation from DI Samantha Keeble (Alison Newman) but appears to be keeping his cool – how long will that last for though?

It comes after the Walford resident’s daughter Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) told police that she’d seen her dad with Lucy shortly before her untimely death last year. Will this be enough for the finger of blame to be pointed at Max?

DS Bryant (Glen Wallace) certainly seems to be hoping that the murder will be pinned on Max. Remember that cheeky little wink he gave him when he was being arrested in Friday’s episode? Spells trouble if you ask us…

Also facing questioning in what will be a very tense EastEnders tonight is Ben (Harry Reid) who, if our spoiler snaps are anything to go by, looks to be cracking under the pressure of it all.

DCI Marsden (Sophie Stanton) – who has a bit of history with the Mitchell clan – interrogates Phil’s son and poor Ben is soon in tears as the interview continues.

She’s clearly determined to get her man and it all gets too much for Ben, who was pulled in after his own dad gave Lucy’s wallet and mobile phone to police knowing that both had Ben’s prints on them, therefore acting as serious evidence.

Viewers know that both Ben and Max are innocent, of course, given that we discovered how Lucy’s half-brother Bobby Beale (Eliot Carrington) was the real killer in a shocking twist revealed during February’s live episodes.

But, with police blissfully unaware of this, who will they charge with the murder? We’re dying to find out when EastEnders is on tonight at 8pm.

Dean Gaffney is going back to EastEnders!
