Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return in a trailer for a special of BBC drama Sherlock

There’s been a void in our life, and for the longest time, we couldn’t figure out what it was. UNTIL NOW.

Benedict Cumberbatch and his know-it-all banter in Sherlock, has been out of our lives since that cold winter in January 2014. But the detective and his partner-in-crime Martin Freeman is set to be back in our lives very soon, and we’re suitably excited.

A full trailer for the return of Sherlock came onto our screens last night – which you can watch BELOW – and here are 6 things that we can’t wait to see…

1.) Ye olde England
Sherlock’s back, but not as you know it. Set in 19th century Britain, everything foggy and looks like it’s been put through the Aden filter on Instagram. It’s all very Charles Dickens.

2.) Casual cape
Oh, with the Sherlock special being set in centuries past, that also means we see Benedict Cumberbatch dressed in stereotypical Sherlock gear. Gone is the chic Belstaff coat, in comes the deerstalker hat and swooshy cape that we all associate with the detective.

3.) Mucho moustache
Sherlock’s not the only one who looks a bit different. Doctor Watson himself is sporting quite the impressive facial hair. But Martin Freeman, we MOUSTACHE (sorry, couldn’t resist) you a question – how did you get it to curl up oh-so-perfectly?

Unsurprisingly, there seems to be a whole load of drama in store for us. It might be the intense strings and music in the background or it might be the tearful woman shouting ‘you would keep him safe – YOU PROMISED’, but we’re pretty sure there won’t be a dull moment.

5.) The name’s Holmes. Sherlock Holmes.
We don’t tend to give our addresses out to rando strangers, but if we sound as cool as Sherlock does when giving out his deets, then we might start doing. ‘The name is Sherlock Holmes and the address is 221B Baker Street.’ Ouff.

6.) Bant and Dec
We love the jokes and cheeky chat between Benedict and Martin, Sherlock and Watson. And it seems like the jokes are as jovial as ever as Sherlock asks ‘why?’ when Watson throws him a deerstalker hat to put on.
‘You’re Sherlock Holmes. Wear the damn hat.’

You tell him Watson.

The BBC are teasing us big time though as even though there’s a trailer, there’ still no air date to when Sherlock will be back on our screens.

We’re waiting patiently for your return boys!
