Ronnie Branning finally comes clean about her actions
EastEnders characters Kat and Alfie Moon will be reunited with their son Tommy on Friday as the soap brings its controversial cot death storyline to a close.
In emotional scenes, the grieving parents – played by Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie – will learn that Ronnie Branning (Samantha Womack) has been raising their child as her own for the past 4 months.
More than 8,000 viewers complained after watching Ronnie swap her lifeless baby James with Kat‘s newborn over the New Year after he died of cot death.
But feeling guilty, she finally tells husband Jack, played by Scott Maslen, the truth on Friday and hands back Tommy to his parents.
‘She blurts out that “James” isn’t Jack‘s son, but he doesn’t believe her and thinks that her depression is making her say it,’ Samantha, 38, tells Inside Soap.
In a newly released still from the show, Kat and Alfie look incredulous as they end their grieving and cradle baby Tommy – whose father is actually Alfie‘s cousin Michael.
Shortly after the storyline aired in January, Samantha announced she was leaving the soap.
This week’s events will eventually lead to Ronnie‘s imprisonment.
See all the action unfold from 8pm on BBC1 this Friday.
