The professional dancer has big plans for Widders
Anton Du Beke is not surprised that Widders mania is sweeping the UK.
‘She has such great spirit, tries her best and does it with such joy and it’s fun,’ he says. ‘She’s easy to work with because she never says: “I’m not doing that.”
‘For an MP, she’s very good at taking orders. When I first mentioned dragging her across the floor or her being suspended on wires, she was like: “Marvellous – let’s do it.” I was gobsmacked.
‘Maybe we’ll both be on fire by the final!’
Anton, 44,definitely feels Ann is this year’s John Sergeant and doesn’t care that the judges are scathing about her performance.
‘There’s a warmth, I think,’ he explains. ‘People love that about her and that’s why she’s been getting standing ovations.
‘We’d rather be in the viewers’ hearts and minds. There are 11 million viewers and four judges, so we listen to the 11 million.’
