Judge's live spat with professional dancer Brendan Cole gets heated
Strictly Come Dancing got a bit tense this week as judge Len Goodman and dancer Brendan Cole argued live on air.
Len didn’t think much of Brendan’s Rocky Horror-inspired jive with his celebrity dance partner, Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams, and announced that he was ‘bitterly disappointed’ with the routine.
As Brendan argued about his critique of the steps, Len told him: ‘I can only tell you what I thought and what I felt.’
‘You need to go to Specsavers,’ Brendan responded.
‘Brendan, you need to turn up, keep up and shut up,’ an angry Len retorted,
‘You don’t need to turn up at all, mate,’ Brendan muttered, before being silenced by Michelle and the other judges.
The outburst caused outrage from fans, who felt that Len was unfairly criticising Brendan, who missed the show last week to return home to New Zealand for his father’s funeral.
‘Len and Brendan were disagreeing over the dance and nothing else,’ says a Strictly spokesman.
Brendan reportedly had to be calmed down by the show’s producers and hasn’t
spoken to Len since.
Len, 66, and Brendan, 34, have argued in the past, in particular after the Strictly judge blasted the dancer in his autobiography for thinking he was a bigger celebrity than the celebrities he danced with.
