Both of Cheryl Cole's girls end up in the bottom two
The Birmingham babe and Katie Waissel ended up in the bottom two in the contest this week and had to perform again in the sing-off.
Simon Cowell voted first, keeping Katie in, then mentor Cheryl refused to decide between them.
‘You are both talented women, I am refusing to send anyone home,’ she announced, adding she was prepared to take the vote to deadlock.
But host Dermot O’Leary told Cheryl, 27, she could not defer her decision.
Dannii opted for Treyc, 27 – leaving Louis the deciding vote.
Treyc – who sang Aerosmith’s Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing and Toni Braxton’s Unbreak My heart – had to accept that it was her turn to go home.
But viewers immediately took to internet forums to protest, with accusations of ‘a fix’.
Many believe that if the panel had reached deadlock, and the viewers had been allowed to decide the outcome, Katie, 24, would have got the boot.
‘Dermot was very clear. He asked Cheryl if she was refusing to vote. He told her if she refused it would simply be based on the majority. Those are the rules,’ says an X Factor representative.
But Cheryl‘s spokesman says: ‘She clearly told Dermot to come back to her. She did nothing wrong. What people say on Twitter and forums is not fact.’
