The Black Eyed Peas frontman keen to pair up with X Factor finalist Cher

Will.i.am is keen to kick start X Factor star Cher Lloyd‘s music career – and worries if she doesn’t work with the right people, she’ll waste her talents.

The Black Eyed Peas singer, 35, helped good friend Cheryl Cole, 27, decide which girls to put through to The X Factor live shows at the judges’ houses stage of the competition.

And he was certain he’d spotted a real star.

‘I really liked that girl Cher,’ says Will.i.am, 35. ‘I would sign her – tomorrow, today, yesterday.

‘I wanted to sign her as I left the house.’

Will.i.am admits he couldn’t stop giggling when he first met 17-year-old Cher – because he realised she was an ‘awesome’ new talent.

‘Cher‘s like a ball of energy and I don’t think she knows what to do with it,’ he tells X Magazine.

‘My fear is if she doesn’t hook up with the right creative people, she’s going to end up being too bubblegum.

‘I’d make edgy hip-hop with a bit of pop and electro thrown in.

‘It would have to have lots of attitude but be melodic at the same time.

‘I think she’s going to do something great.’
