Simon Cowell meets with X Factor fans for brainstorming session

The X Factor could get a fifth judge for the next series.

Show boss Simon Cowell, 51, reportedly met fans for a feedback session in London.

Bringing in a new judge is said to have been popular with the group.

‘The idea is 90% a done deal,’ says a source.

Simon has always thought a guest judge on live shows would bring some extra drama to proceedings.

‘And he hopes they will shoot from the hip and put a rocket under the rest of the judges, who often bite their tongues.’

Producers also reckon adding someone to the panel could help avoid the controversy created on Sunday when Cheryl Cole, 27, opted out of voting after the sing-off.

Instead the other judges decided 2-1 to send Treyc Cohen, 27, home instead of Katie Waissel

Some fans believe that if the panel had reached deadlock, and the viewers had been allowed to decide the outcome, the blonde singer, 24, would have got the boot.

‘On one level it could mean that if one of the judges opted out of voting it could still go to deadlock if the others were split 2-2,’ the source tells The Sun.

‘But the danger is if they all had voting rights and chose to vote it would never go to deadlock.’
