Matt Cardle apologises for his Wagner rants

X Factor finalist Matt Cardle has apologised for his outbursts directed at fellow contestant Wagner Carrilho – but insists he wasn’t being nasty.

Matt, 27, can’t believe the public keep saving Brazilian crooner Wagner, 54, despite his heavily criticised comedy performances.

Meanwhile, Matt‘s best mates in the competition, Aiden Grimshaw, 18, and Paije Richardson, 19, have been voted off the show in consecutive weeks.

‘There are
funny twists and turns in this competition and some of them aren’t very funny,’ Matt ranted on The Xtra Factor.

‘It’s a bit of a joke.’

But Matt, who is favourite to win the competition, is now trying to mend his feud with Wagner.

‘I have been a little bit outspoken but I think it is time to shut the hell up,’ says the painter and decorator.

‘It is no one’s fault and I understand that. I am not being a bitch, it is just hard when my guys are going

‘I lost Aiden and then lost Paije so I got angry. If I offended anyone I am sorry.’

Despite the apology, Wagner, 54 – who was also attacked by judge Cheryl Cole on last Saturday‘s live show – has hit back at his critics, suggesting he doesn’t care what people think of him.

‘I’m with God and if someone is with the Devil, go and stay in his company if you want,’ Wagner tells X Magazine.

‘The only explanation is the absence of love and a presence of fear and jealousy.

‘I am like a rock, they are like the waves crashing into the rock and breaking into pieces.’
