Katie goes home as Wagner and Mary compete in sing-off
The singer got the fewest number of viewers’ votes tonight so was eliminated immediately from the contest.
‘I’ve had the most wonderful time here,’ Katie, told host Dermot O’Leary.
‘Just being here in itself has been a highlight. I want to thank everybody.’
Last week Katie, 24, was devastated by tabloid reports revealing that her 81-year-old granny Sheila Vogel-Coupe is an ‘escort’, advertising her services on website Vintage Vamps.
Wagner Carrilho, 54, and Mary Byrne, 50, fought for the last semi-final place in the competition with a sing-off and, after 8 weeks, Wagner finally went home.
Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole all decided to save Mary so Simon Cowell’s vote was unnecessary, though he looked very relieved the fiasco was over.
