He’s no stranger to the surgeon’s knife, believing that changing his appearance is just ‘like buying a new sofa’. And five years after that comment, it seems Pete Burns hasn’t changed his view on surgery as he’s recently been pictured in the aftermath of another cosmetic procedure.
The Dead Or Alive singer, 56, was spotted in London last week clutching a Selfridges bag while wearing a bandage over his nose.
Pete’s previously said: ‘People redecorate their homes every few years and I see this as no different. It’s something I’ll always do.’ His first dalliance with cosmetic surgery came in 1984, shortly before his band hit
No 1 with You Spin Me Round (Like A Record), and he’s continued to experiment with his look ever since, with a variety of hairstyles and often wearing women’s clothes.
By 2000, he’d started having lip filler injections and within a couple of years he’d had numerous operations that completely transformed his face. In 2006 – the year he divorced his wife of 28 years Lynne and entered the Celebrity Big Brother house – he opened up about all his surgery mishaps by releasing a book and starring in the documentary Pete Burns’ Cosmetic Surgery Nightmares.
The following year, the Scouser sued a Harley Street surgeon after his lip implants went wrong, claiming it left him feeling ‘suicidal’. It resulted in Pete receiving £450,000 in damages in an out-of-court settlement in 2009. But it clearly hasn’t put him off having further work done.
